It's also frustrating that other electors are ignoring the fact that I don't even vote for my self to succeed as Emperor. It's really frustrating that there isn't an option to decline the throne. I know that one possible solution is just being a dick to my electors, but I don't want to threaten my realm stability. Is this the case, or if not, should I declare Italian independence now? I'm also considering declaring independence, but I'm worried that because my land is considered a de jure part of the HRE, that I'll still be a nominee to the title. Also, I really want Burgundy's territory and Tyrol to de-jure drift into Italy, which they won't do if I'm the Emperor (they remain vassals of mine, but are placed under the authority of the Empire rather than my Kingdom).

I do have some time to work with, as the current Emperor is only in their 30's.Īs for why I don't want to be the Emperor? Because I'd rather be a vassal, I've already done the world conquest, God-Emperor thing with Hispania.

I also pushed for elective succession while HRE CA was low, since a previous Emperor had swapped to Primogeniture (not sure how this happened) right before a different, stronger German dynasty was set to win an election (I wanted the Emperor title passed to a different line).Īnyway, the problem is now that my vassals are all trying to vote for me, King of Italy, Cyprus, and Greece, Duke of Lombardy and Tuscany, to be the next HRE and they seem to outnumber the rest of the HRE. This is partially my fault, because I pushed for multiple plots to lower crown authority since I didn't realize that this would eventually alter my CA when I drifted in. The ruling dynasty of the HRE is also rather weak as well.

The first, is that Italy recently drifted into the de Jure HRE, which means my dukes are all electors now. Unfortunately, this has been complicated by a couple of details. I've gotten most of Sicily to de jure drift into Italy, and I'm working on getting most of de jure Burgundy and Tyrol to drift in as well.
